A Broadband Dual-Polarized Magneto-Electro-Dipole Antenna Applicable to 2G/3G Applications
This paper presents a compact broadband dual-polarized magneto-electric (ME) dipole antenna designed for 2G/3G applications. The antenna features a cross-ME dipole with rectangular slot loading, which significantly enhances its impedance bandwidth. To achieve a compact structure, two Γ-shaped feed lines are co-planarly placed with the vertical patch, effectively reducing the antenna's lateral dimensions. Additionally, a rectangular box-shaped reflector is incorporated, which stabilizes the radiation pattern and contributes to high gain performance across the operating frequency range. Simulation results indicate that the antenna operates within 1.5-2.84 GHz, achieving an impedance bandwidth of 81.2%. The voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) remains below 2, and port-to-port isolation is better than -25 dB. The simulated antenna gains for port 1 and port 2 range from 8-10.55 dBi and 8.1-10.52 dBi, respectively. In the 45°-plane, the antenna exhibits low back-lobe radiation patterns with near symmetry. Additionally, it supports narrow-beam, wide-plane radiation patterns, making it highly suitable for efficient signal transmission and reception in targeted applications.
