Miniaturized Rectifiers With Integrated Harmonic Suppression and Matching Networks for Wireless Power Transmission and Energy Harvesting
To develop low costs highly compact wireless power transmission (WPT) and energy harvesting (WEH) systems, rectifiers with miniaturized circuits are vital for mass deployment. However, conventional rectifiers have bulky yet essential matching and harmonic suppression networks. To solve this problem, a new rectifying topology based on an integrated harmonic suppression and matching network (IHSMN) is proposed for the first time. According to theoretical analysis, the IHSMN can realize both impedance matching and harmonic termination for Schottky diodes to give high RF-to-DC conversion efficiency. For validation, miniaturized rectifiers I and II with dimensions of 10 × 10 mm2using IHSMNs are fabricated and measured for WEH and WPT, respectively. The implemented rectifier I, obtains a high efficiency of 36.2% at the ultra-low input power of -20 dBm, while rectifier II maintains efficiencies of over 50% with a dynamic input power range of 20 dB.
