Enhanced Bio-Inspired Energy Efficient Security Guard (E-BESG) for Adaptive Threat Detection in Resource Constrained Edge Cloud Environments

The Bio-inspired Energy-efficient Security Guard (BESG) provides a viable solution for cyber security in energy-constrained environments. Nevertheless, conventional BESG models have limitations in adaptive threat adaptation, fine-grained energy management and uncertain defense patterns. This paper introduces an Enhanced Bio-inspired Energy-efficient Security Guard (E-BESG) that unifies adaptive threat sensing, polymorphic defense action and micro-level energy-sensitive control. E-BESG dynamically adjusts detection thresholds based on system load and energy profiles. It employs a light-weight online learning module to enable quick adaptation to new threats and dynamically adjusts its defense measures in order to respond to adversarial attacks. A self-correcting feedback loop constantly optimizes energy consumption and security effectiveness. Experimental comparisons on emulated cloud scenarios prove that E-BESG exhibits higher detection rates (as high as 99%), decreases false positives (<1.5%) and minimizes energy expenditure by 5-10% when compared to BESG environment. Thus the proposed work is adapted to real-time, resource constrained Edge Cloud infrastructures.
