Coordination Control Strategy of MTDC Connected Offshore Wind Farms Based on Model Predictive Control
This paper proposes a coordination control strategy (CCS) for voltage source converter (VSC) multi-terminal direct current (MTDC) connected offshore wind farms (WFs) based on model predictive control (MPC). Firstly, to optimize active and reactive power control of WFs, an MPC-based wind turbine (WT) control strategy is designed for fatigue load suppressing and keeping WTs voltage range. Secondly, to optimize the voltage of VSCs, an MPC-based adaptive droop control (ADC) of VSCs is proposed for tracking the WFs power of WF side VSCs (WFVSCs), reducing DC network power loss or achieving power sharing of grid side VSCs (GSVSCs). To formulate MPC optimization problem, the higher-order term with respect to droop coefficient is reduced order and stability of the ADC method is analyzed analysis. Finally, the combined whole system model including multiple WFs, WFVSCs and GSVSCs is used to realize multi-objective optimization. A test system consisted of 3 WFs with 100×5 MW WTs, 3 WFVSCs and 2 GSVSCs was used to verify the proposed combined control scheme in MATLAB/Simulink
