MMBOC-MPSK: Compatible and Interoperable Modulation Based on Integrated Communication, Navigation, and Telemetry and Remote Control

The three service functions traditional communication, navigation, and telemetry and remote control are independent and occupy different frequency band resources. To alleviate the tight frequency resource situation and achieve the goals of cost reduction, efficiency improvement, and reduction of redundant construction, this paper proposes a compatible and interoperable constant envelope modulation technology based on the integration of communication, navigation, and telemetry and remote control (ICNTR): the modified multiplexed binary offset carrier-multiple phase shift keying (MMBOC-MPSK) signal. First, we establish a mathematical model of the MMBOC-MPSK signal, derive mathematical analytical expressions for its power spectral density (PSD) function and autocorrelation function (ACF), analyze the influence of the subcarrier phase on the integrated signal, and analyze the basic characteristics of the MMBOC-MPSK signal. Next, we analyze the overall performance of the MMBOC-MPSK signal from aspects such as the code tracking error, anti-interference performance, signal compatibility and interoperability characteristics, ranging accuracy, signal demodulation, and transmission. Finally, the selection of modulation schemes and strategies for integrating the uplink and downlink are analyzed, and our recommendations are provided. Compared with other signals, the proposed signal has better performance in terms of Gabor bandwidth, code tracking accuracy, anti- interference performance, ranging accuracy and compatibility, and interoperability characteristics. We can select appropriate signals according to service requirements and flexibly configure power to achieve different integration modes for the uplink and downlink; this is a feasible reference modulation scheme for ICNTR.
