A Method for Accurate Relief-Well Location Using an Improved Bessel Model

With the increasing frequency of underground resource exploration activities in recent years, blowout accidents have become more prevalent. Consequently, the rapid and efficient control of such accidents has gained significant importance. The use of Relief-Well technology is one of the most effective methods for addressing blowout incidents. However, the conventional Bessel model used for determining the location of the blowout well faces limitations, including its heavy dependence on the accuracy of system parameters. This paper introduces a novel measurement method based on an improved Bessel model. By simultaneously utilizing magnetic field data from two fixed positions, the distance from the blowout well to the relief well can be accurately determined. The result of the simulation model confirms the effectiveness of the method and provides a solid foundation for the rapid sealing of blowout wells.
