Workbook as a tool for improving the efficiency of the educational process

Background. Learning outcomes depend on many factors, one of which is the motivation of students. This aspect is the most difficult to achieve in higher education. Disciplines in the humanities are often considered as a kind of additional load that is not particularly important for the development of professional competencies. Teachers of non-special disciplines at higher education institutions face a special task – to increase the motivation of students, to arouse interest in their subject. One of the means of increasing motivation is the use of various teaching aids in the educational process that ensure the accessibility and clarity of educational information. Purpose. The main objective of the proposed work is to describe the features of the means of providing educational material used at the Department of Foreign and Latin Languages of Tver State Medical University. Such a tool is a workbook. The article describes the advantages of the chosen approach, provides statistical information confirming the effectiveness of using such teaching aids. Materials and methods. The following research methods were used: analysis of local pedagogical experience, pedagogical observation, data statistical analysis. Results. As the study showed, the workbook described in the article is a methodological and didactic tool, the effectiveness of which is ensured by the factors of accessibility and clarity. The accessibility of the educational information in the workbook is determined by its structuring. Clarity is achieved by using an integrated approach, within the framework of which both lexical and grammatical material are simultaneously practiced, and different language skills are combined. Practical implications. The model described in the article can be applied in the practice of teaching a foreign language to students of non-linguistic universities.
