Perspectivas de los equipos de gestión en una universidad pública: fortalezas y desafíos de la innovación curricular

The aim of the study is to explore in depth key stakeholders’ perceptions and experiences of curriculum innovation in a higher education institution. Using a qualitative approach and a phenomenological design, semi-structured interviews were conducted with participants with direct experience on curriculum innovation. The sample was selected by purposive sampling and analysed until theoretical saturation was reached. The results reveal strengths, such as institutional resilience and learning by doing in careers such as engineering and arts, beside structural weaknesses such as institutional instability and lack of resources. Curricular innovations often remain at the theoretical level, limiting their real impact. Implementation challenges are identified, including resistance to change and lack of institutional support. In conclusion, although significant progress is observed in curriculum innovation, structural and cultural barriers persist, limiting its impact. For sustainable improvement, more coherent, equitable and practice-oriented planning and a proactive and inclusive organisational culture are recommended. Curriculum innovation should be holistic and organic, involving all components of the education system and prioritising continuous teacher training.
