RESULTS OF THE USE OF THE PREBIOTIC "MEZI-VIT+" IN COMPLEX THERAPY FOR THE TREATMENT OF TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS

Background. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is an acute medical and social problem of our time, since the growth of this disease allows us to talk about a global diabetes pandemic. New approaches to the treatment of type 2 diabetes with the correction of metabolic manifestations through modulation of the microbiota, as well as its potential role as a pathogenic factor in metabolic syndrome and t T2DM have now been proven. The role of various hypoglycemic drugs in improving carbohydrate metabolism through modulation of the intestinal microbiota is actively discussed. The use of therapeutic agents that have a beneficial effect on the composition of intestinal microbiota in the treatment regimen for patients with type 2 diabetes allows for improved tissue sensitivity to insulin and alleviation of the disease by administering glycated hemoglobin and fasting glucose. Addition of MEZI-VIT+, 2 tablets 3 times a day, to the basic therapy for T2DM, contributes to better adaptation of diabetes mellitus. Purpose. To determine the effectiveness of the use of the drug “MEZI-VIT+” in the complex therapy of patients with type 2 diabetes, taking into account its mechanism of action. Materials and methods. To achieve the goal, 40 people were examined, alng with 25 people in the control group. The average age of which was 65±8.5 years, the average weight was 92±10.5 kg. The duration of the disease (from the moment of diagnosis) was from 2 to 15 years. The following complications were registered in the examined group: nephropathy — 5 people; macroangiopathy — 15 patients, and retinopathy in 15 people. Polyneuropathy was detected in all the examined population. The patients took hypoglycemic drugs according to the scheme and “MEZI-VIT+” 2 tablets 3 times a day. To assess the effectiveness of the drug “MEZI-VIT+”, the blood glucose level was assessed (the first fasting test) 5 times a day and glycated hemoglobin was evaluated. The control group did not receive the drug “MEZI-VIT+”. The requirements of the Biomedical Ethics Committee during the examination were fully met. Results. Hyperglycemia (fasting) before taking the drug “MEZI-VIT+” was detected in all subjects and amounted to 6.5 to 10.2 mmol/l, glycated hemoglobin — from 6.7 to 8.4%. After 15 days of taking the drug, the blood glucose levels in the examined group were 5.3-6.7 mmol/l (p<0.05), and glycated hemoglobin was in the range from 5.5 to 7.1% (p<0.05). In the control group, the indicators remained at the same level. Conclusions. Normalization of blood glucose levels can be achieved by restoring the qualitative and quantitative composition of the colon microbiota. The use of prebiotics “MEZI-VIT+”, which have a beneficial effect on the composition of the colon microbiota. In the general treatment regimen for patients with type 2 diabetes it can improve tissue sensitivity to insulin and reduce the content of glycated hemoglobin and glucose in the body. Adding MEZI-VIT+ 2 tablets 3 times a day to the basic therapy of T2DM promotes better compensation of diabetes and prevents the development of complications of the disease.
