Modeling the Consequences of Changing the Number of Regions in the "Power - Society" System using the Example of the Two-level Power Hierarchy of the USA
The paper continues the study of how changes in the number of regions influence the socio-economic dynamics of A.P. Mikhailov’s "power-society" system. For this purpose, a previously developed by the author cellular automaton-based modification of the "power-society" model was used. Unlike previous studies on this topic, a two-level power hierarchy was considered, significantly reducing the dimensionality of the model and making a more accurate approximation of the topological structure of the modeled power hierarchy possible. Using this approach, the socio-economic dynamics of the "power-society" system of the United States of America were modeled, as for their recently declared intentions to annex a number of neighboring states and territories. Basing on the model mentioned above, a simulation system was built for the US power hierarchy. A series of computational experiments were carried out simulating various possible scenarios of such an annexation. The results of the experiments showed the presence or absence of a negative impact of such accessions on the situation in the power hierarchy and the socio-economic dynamics. Besides, possible measures to neutralize the negative effects were considered.
