Assessing Fungicide Options for White Mold Management in Field Tomato Production, Verona, Mississippi, 2024
White mold (WM), caused by Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, is a common fungal disease in field tomato production. Symptoms include water-soaked areas at the base of the main stem or in the axes of lower branches during cool and moist weather. As the disease progresses, the tissue turns necrotic, dry, and often splits. Fungicides have become one of the most important practices for WM management in tomato production. This report evaluates the effects of five fungicides for the control of WM in field tomato. The trial was conducted at the North Mississippi Research and Extension Center, Verona, MS, in 2024. Disease incidence, phytotoxicity, and yield were evaluated for all treatments. Results from this trial will help advise commercial tomato growers in selecting management options for this disease.
