MASTITE BOVINA: abordagens convencionais e alternativas de controle e tratamento
Mastitis is a multifactorial inflammation of the mammary gland and is considered one of the main causes of economic losses in dairy farming. This article aims to review and compare the conventional and alternative approaches used to control and treat mastitis. The review covers the physiology of the mammary gland, the different types and clinical manifestations of the disease, as well as the main etiological agents involved. Preventive and therapeutic measures are discussed, such as the use of antibiotics, dry cow therapy and hygienic-sanitary care, as well as emerging practices such as the use of essential oils and ozone therapy. The research is characterized as qualitative and exploratory. The study provides support for understanding the available strategies, highlighting the importance of integrating prevention, early diagnosis and rational treatment, as well as pointing out alternatives that can contribute to reducing the indiscriminate use of antimicrobials.
