Effect of high magnetic field on the microstructure and mechanical of TC4 titanium alloy subject to external stress
The tensile tests of TC4 alloy were carried out in the presence of high pulsed magnetic field with different magnetic induction intensity ( B ) ranging from 1 to 5T. The results indicate that increasing B enhances the tensile strength ( σ ) and elongation ( δ ). Specifically, at B = 3T and N = 30, σ is 965 MPa and δ is 12.41% exhibiting improvements of 0.9% and 24.0% compared with 0T sample. The magnetic field during tensile testing facilitates grain size refinement, accelerates the β→α phase transition, and influences grain orientation and texture. Notably, the magnetic field affects dislocation characteristics due to magneto-plasticity effect. At B = 3T, the dislocation density reaches its maximum, rising by 26.91% in comparison to the 0T sample.
