The importance of the nurse in preventing cervical cancer in the female population is evident. Methodology: A qualitative literature review research with a descriptive approach. Final considerations: Considering that primary care is the gateway to the SUS, the nurse should directly engage in the prevention of cervical cancer, promoting awareness actions and implementing protocols for the early detection of the disease. It is the responsibility of the nurse and their team to encourage the female population to adhere to the main screening method for cervical cancer, the preventive exam.
