A Study of Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment and Comparison of Awareness between Citizens and Public Officials: A Case Study of D-gun
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the current status, prospects, and vulnerabilities related to climate change in D-gun, and to compare these findings with the perceptions of residents and public officials in order to derive implications for climate crisis adaptation policies. According to the vulnerability assessment, the forest/ecosystem sector was the most vulnerable, followed by health, industry/energy, territory, agricultural and livestock products, and water management. The climate change awareness survey revealed that residents prioritized adaptation measures most in the health sector (24.7%), followed by water management, agricultural and livestock products, territory, forest/ecosystem, industry/energy, and infrastructure. Public officials in contrast prioritized health (27.2%) as the top sector for adaptation measures, followed by water management, territory, industry/energy, agricultural and livestock products, infrastructure, and forest/ecosystem. In all sectors where adaptation measures were prioritized, the first (health) and second (water management) sectors were consistent between residents and public officials. To successfully implement climate crisis adaptation measures in D-gun, it will be necessary to incorporate regional damage cases and conduct comprehensive risk assessments. Furthermore, developing climate crisis adaptation policies and differentiated strategies tailored to each administrative district will be essential.
