A critical review and performance analysis of SPV MPPT Techniques at maximum power
In context of renewable energy, the attention towards solar energy has increased in recent times. Importantly, power-voltage curves of a single Photo-Voltaic (PV) cell are non-linear in nature. In order to tap, receive and track the maximum output power from a PV system, the maximum power point is to be tracked down on continuous basis. For the same, there are various types of Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) techniques. This paper demonstrates the performance comparison of widely used MPPT techniques: Perturb & Observe (P&O), Incremental Conductance (IC) technique, ripple correlation control, current sweep, particle swarm optimization, fuzzy logic. The performance of these MPPT techniques is investigated and then compared basis of parameters such as efficiency, number of sensors, and cost. The results can be helpful for the future energy professionals in their studies.
