Innovative application and effect evaluation of intelligent teaching system (ITS) in adaptive improvement of English translation ability

Despite the numerous advantages which ITS has been stated to provide for the improvement of English translation ability, it becomes crucial here to undertake a comparative analysis of ITS and other conventional methods. The main purpose of this study is to discuss the innovative learning approach that has been used to enhance the university students’ English translation skills through ITS. A only quasi-experimental research design was used with 100 subjects, randomly assigned to the ITS group and the traditional method group. The ‘ITS’ with characteristics of adaptivity and intelligence together with elements of individual learning paths has proven to showcase an enhancement of translation skills for the experimental group. The ITS results were significantly in favour of the experimental group which reflected a mean score increase of 22.7 points against control group which reflected a mean score increase of 12. 3 points only. Algorithms of system usage, user satisfaction and regression analysis supported the idea about active engagement helping to reach the level of translation proficiency. This study also reveals that ITS can be more beneficial in delivering better learning than the conventional methodologies.
