AI Adoption and Employee Work-Life Balance in the Indonesian Workplace

This study investigates the interplay between Artificial Intelligence (AI) experience, AI work engagement, and work-life balance within the Indonesian workplace, addressing the crucial need to understand AI influence on employee well-being amidst its increasing organizational adoption. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 432 employees in Greater Jakarta, utilizing a five-point Likert scale for variable measurement, and applying multiple regression analysis to test hypotheses. The findings reveal a positive relationship between AI experience and work-life balance, indicating that seamless interaction with AI tools can enhance efficiency and reduce stress. Conversely, AI work engagement was found to be negatively associated with work-life balance, suggesting that excessive immersion with AI systems may lead to detrimental effects such as blurred work-personal boundaries. This research underscores the importance for organizations and policymakers to carefully manage AI integration, maximizing its benefits for productivity while safeguarding employee well-being and preventing potential burnout, thereby fostering a healthier workplace culture in the AI era.
