Securing University Data using Hybrid Cloud
Universities face growing challenges of managing and securing enormous amounts of sensitive data, like student records, research information, and administrative content. Traditional on-premise storage systems have failed to deliver in terms of scalability and cost-effectiveness. However, public cloud solutions have concerning issues with the security of data and compliance with the regulations. This project is focused on discussing the development of a hybrid cloud model that will combine the best from both private on-premises and public cloud infrastructures. Very sensitive data are stored in the on-premises environment, with security and compliance in place, while the less sensitive and scalable data is managed in the public cloud. For this, a secure portal that is user-friendly will be designed for students, faculty, and college administrators to effectively access and manage data. This website will then seamlessly integrate into the hybrid cloud system, hence making it one unified platform for collaboration and management of data. Thus, this project addresses the challenge universities face in managing sensitive data by proposing a hybrid cloud model that combines private on-premises and public cloud infrastructures to meet the university’s needs.
