Analysis of Gender Parity Index (GPI) Literacy Ratios for 15–24-Year-Olds: A Statistical and Comparative Study
This study examines the Gender Parity Index (GPI) literacy ratios for individuals aged 15–24 across twenty countries, comparing data from 2000 and 2001. Using descriptive statistics—median, inter-quartile range (IQR)—and visual tools such as box-plots, histograms, and stem-and-leaf displays, the research highlights rising female literacy rates and a contraction of male-skewed disparities. Key findings include an increase in median GPI from 0.995 to 1.000 and a dramatic narrowing of the IQR from 0.16 to 0.06. These shifts underscore global progress toward literacy parity and the ongoing need for policies that address residual gender gaps.
