Technology Enhanced Inquiry Based Science Learning with Cultural Integration for Secondary Education
This study presents the development and validation of a technology-enhanced inquiry-based science learning (IBSL) framework that integrates advanced information and communication technology (ICT) tools with cultural relevance to improve secondary science education outcomes. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) methodology, the framework is designed based on Pedaste’s inquiry model and incorporates virtual laboratories, AI-powered tutoring systems, digital concept mapping, and data visualization applications to facilitate interactive and personalized learning experiences. The inclusion of culturally sustaining pedagogy ensures contextualization of scientific concepts within local knowledge systems. Expert validation using Aiken’s V confirms the framework’s high content validity (average V = 0.89) across pedagogical suitability, technological integration, and cultural relevance. Findings indicate prevalent challenges in current science education, including limited ICT utilization, teacher readiness gaps, and infrastructure disparities. This framework addresses these challenges by providing scalable technology solutions and adaptive learning strategies tailored to diverse educational contexts. Implications include enhanced student engagement, digital literacy, and 21st-century skill development. Recommendations emphasize implementing classroom trials, comprehensive teacher training focused on ICT competencies, and continuous adaptation to regional cultural contexts. This research contributes a robust, scalable model at the intersection of educational technology, inquiry learning, and cultural integration, advancing the application of ICT in science education and supporting inclusive, technology-driven pedagogies in secondary schools.
