Blockchain and IoT Integration in Halal Supply Chain Framework in the Philippines: A Bibliometric Analysis

This study seeks to address the growing disparity between Malaysia and Indonesia, and the Philippines, on the application of Blockchain and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies in the field of halal product movements. By conducting a bibliometric analysis, the researchers were able to evaluate global traits and identify key contributors, as well as underscore the potential of these technologies to improve halal supply chain management in the Philippines. The results indicate that both Malaysia and Indonesia have already gained from exploiting the potentials of both technologies in maintaining integrity of various halal products. In contrast, the Philippines has yet to embrace blockchain and IoT as evidenced by its limited application in the field of halal products movement and its contribution to academic studies. This research also highlights key trends, research gaps, and areas for further development of halal industry in the Philippines. The researchers also recommend research collaborations, technological innovation, and policy frameworks aimed at strengthening transparency, traceability, and integrity of halal supply chains.
