High-Performance DC-DC Power Converter with Fuzzy Logic Control for Microgrid Applications

This paper presents a novel non-coupled inductor-based high-gain DC-DC converter topology operated by fuzzy logic controller (FLC). To meet the power demand integration of renewable energy sources as microgrid is needed. In general, distributed energy generations (DER) sources like solar and fuel cells are produces lower voltage levels. To interconnect with a grid high gain DC-DC converters are essential. The overall performance of microgrid is highly dependent on the performance of these converters. In this regard, for well operating the DC-DC converter network and obtain greater voltage gain and power levels developed FLC controller in this work. In the proposed approach employs a single PWM signal to operate the DC-DC converter. The proposed converter topology facilitates numerous features such as achieving high voltage gains while minimizing the number of semiconductor devices. To validate proposed method effectiveness, a simulation study performed under two dynamic operating conditions such as the input voltage was varied while maintaining a constant load and the load was varied with steady input voltage. In both scenarios, the proposed control technique demonstrated superior performance, regulates the output voltage as steady state and ripple free.
