The Arctic in the Strategies of Transnational Corporations: from Resource Development to Digital Ecosystem

The article analyzes the transformation of strategies adopted by transnational energy corporations in the Arctic amid global climate, technological, and institutional shifts. The author traces the evolution of corporate presence in the region – from a resource-oriented model to a technologically integrated one based on digitalization, automation, and remote management. Particular attention is paid to the impact of digital solutions on project sustainability, the mitigation of operational and environmental risks, and the improvement of efficiency in Arctic assets. The study examines the practices of leading companies employing digital twins, artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, and satellite monitoring. It is emphasized that in the context of the energy transition, digital environmental metrics are gaining economic significance and are becoming a prerequisite for access to additional sources of capital, including financing, insurance, and market instruments. The Arctic is increasingly viewed not only as a source of hydrocarbons, but also as a connecting node in global digital and logistics chains, where digital platforms play a key role in adapting corporate strategies to new economic and regulatory demands.
