MQTT Protocol Based Real-Time Operation in Mobile Robotic System Using IoT Technique
This paper proposes an IoT-enabled mobile robotic system using the MQTT cloud platform for remote monitoring and control system in real-time wirelessly where the robotic control system is designed with the help of MQTT protocol in IoT cloud platform, ESP32 CAM and IoT gateway where MQTT protocol provides the bi-directional communication using publish and subscribe the data within ESP32 CAM microcontroller and robot. The MQTT broker is also applied for subscribing to one or more topics to the clients such as PC/mobile phone using android/web application and will receive messages from those topics once subscribed which is a major advantage of the application of MQTT protocol in IoT Technique. ESP32 CAM is also used for monitoring the environment because it has a built-in wireless camera, ESP 32 microcontroller, and a wi-fi shield with a low-cost single board. It also takes less power consumption and communication time during real-time operation. An experimental prototype is also developed. By demonstration, the experiment result shows the viability of implementing the MQTT cloud platform into wireless remote control robots using the IoT cloud platform for monitoring and inspection systems. During data transmission, the packet size is less than the HTTP protocol. The signal strength of wireless communication is also analyzed which helps in long-range wireless communications. Therefore, this IoT-enabled mobile robotic system proves an effective tool for real-time monitoring and rapid wireless communication. It provides an impact and is highly valuable in a wide range of robotic applications.
