An Immersive Virtual Reality Framework for Semiconductor Manufacturing Training: Design and Evaluation
Semiconductor manufacturing requires precision and expertise, yet traditional training is resource-intensive, costly, and constrained by cleanroom access. This paper presents a Virtual Reality (VR) training framework to address these challenges, offering an immersive, scalable, and safe platform for workforce development. Built using Unity 3D, the system simulates critical processes like ingot growth, wafer slicing, photolithography, and etching, incorporating multisensory feedback, adaptive learning, and multiplayer collaboration. Trials with 30 trainees demonstrate a 30 % reduction in learning time (from 4 to 3 hours for full process mastery), 40 % fewer errors in wafer handling tasks, and 35% higher engagement compared to traditional methods. The framework bridges the skills gap in the semiconductor industry, providing a standardized, cost-effective alternative to conventional training methods.
