A Sensorless Constant Airflow Control Algorithm of Fan: Calculation and Measurement
This paper describes a novel sensorless algorithm for constant airflow (CA) control which overcomes challenges of implementation on backward-curved centrifugal (BC) fans. In order to achieve CA control, the torque as well as the static pressure equations are constructed by aerodynamic theory to calculate the required motor speed (nreq</i>). The experiment utilizes the airflow test bench to measure the output airflow of a 450 mm BC fan. In the CA test, the fan is tested in the left and right working sectors, respectively, which realizes CA control within a wide airflow range. When the set airflow is between 600 and 3400 cubic meters per hour (CMH), the average error of airflow is less than 72 CMH, and the maximum relative error does not exceed 4.5 %.
