Interharmonics and supraharmonics analysis of Electric Arc Furnace

A major cause of light flicker is the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), which introduces interharmonics into the electrical supply. In order to determine the interharmonics (which range from 30 Hz to 70 Hz) produced by the furnace, this work offers a mathematical analysis of the EAF model. The results aid in the development of strategies to lessen light flicker's negative effects on the power system. The study also finds that the EAF introduced supraharmonics into the power network, which range in frequency from 2 kHz to 150 kHz. The frequency components of interharmonics and supraharmonics are analyzed using a mathematical model of the EAF. For frequency identification, the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and related instruments are used. A MATLAB-based power system network is designed to supply power to the EAF and facilitate the analysis of non-fundamental frequency components injected by the furnace.
