Web-Based BIM and GIS Technologies for Architectural Heritage Management: The Case of Pueblo de Esquivel, Spain
The management of architectural heritage faces challenges due to the complexity and scale required. This study investigates the integration between Heritage Building Information Modeling and Historical Geographic Information Systems through the creation of a Web-HBIM-HGIS model, focusing on the Pueblo de Esquivel, a modern work by architect Alejandro de la Sota. The research aims to promote an effective approach to the preservation of cultural heritage, utilizing technologies that ensure data interoperability. Based on a case study, an exploratory analysis of the HBIM-HGIS process is conducted, spanning from data collection to data and metadata management, with an emphasis on the integration of HBIM and HGIS and the sharing of data through a proprietary WebGIS. A workflow is established as an effective approach for data exchange and transmission, grounded in HBIM and HGIS integration practices, aiming to enhance the efficiency of information management in the context of architectural heritage. The results demonstrate that the visualization and integration of geometric and semantic data are essential for providing relevant information to stakeholders in architectural heritage. This study contributes to the understanding of interoperability between HBIM and HGIS and establishes a workflow for future research in the preservation of cultural heritage.
