SEISMIC ANALYSIS OF SOFT STOREY RC FRAME, INFILL FRAME AND BARE FRAMED ASYMMETRIC STRUCTURE UNDER DIFFERENT SEISMIC ZONES
This comprehensive review paper provides a detailed analysis of the seismic behavior of soft-storey reinforced concrete (RC) frames, infill frames, and bare framed asymmetric structures in different seismic zones. The paper critically examines and synthesizes findings from a wide range of research studies, focusing on the structural strength and performance of buildings under seismic loading. The review explores the significance of considering different seismic zones and their corresponding design parameters. It investigates the impact of irregular mass and stiffness distribution in asymmetric structures and discusses how these factors affect the seismic response of buildings.Additionally, the role of masonry infill walls in influencing structural behavior is thoroughly examined, emphasizing their contribution to enhancing the overall strength, lateral resistance, and energy dissipation of the building. The paper also discusses recent earthquake events in India, highlighting the severe damages incurred and underscoring the pressing need for improved seismic design practices.By evaluating the response parameters such as base shear, storey drift, and storey displacements, this research analysis provides valuable insights into the performance of an asymmetrical building. The comparative analysis of the response parameters obtained from the analysis using ETABS software across different seismic zones facilitates a comprehensive understanding of the structural behavior in different regions. The findings of this review paper contribute to the body of knowledge on seismic design and assist in informing future design considerations for multistorey buildings in seismic-prone areas.
