Integration of intelligent optical sensors into monitoring systems for the sustainable development of mountainous areas

This article examines the integration of intelligent optical sensors into monitoring systems to ensure the sustainable development of mountainous areas, with a focus on the mining industry experience in Uzbekistan. An analysis is conducted of modern fiber-optic sensors, including long-gauge deformometers, vibration sensors, and strain gauges, as well as technologies for their integration with Internet of Things platforms, satellite monitoring, and geographic information systems. Experimental data obtained under various climatic and geological conditions demonstrate the high sensitivity of optical sensors to minimal displacements and early signs of rock instability, which significantly enhances the safety and efficiency of infrastructure operation. The implementation of intelligent sensor systems has reduced the number of false alarms, shortened response times to anomalies, decreased operational costs and equipment downtime, and extended the service life of machinery. Particular attention is given to technical solutions for ensuring stable sensor operation under conditions of high dust levels, sharp temperature fluctuations, and seismic activity characteristic of the mountainous regions of Uzbekistan. The results obtained confirm the significant potential for further development and large-scale implementation of intelligent optical sensors for comprehensive monitoring and risk management in mountainous areas, in accordance with modern requirements for sustainable development and the minimization of environmental and technogenic risks.
