Chemo-profiling of aqueous extract of Nauclea latifolia using GC-XX

The present study was conducted to study the relationship between seed yield and its contributing traits in safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.), an experiment was carried out during the Rabi season of 2024-25 at the experimental site of the All India Coordinated Research Project on Safflower, Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani (M.S.), using an augmented design. A total of 120 safflower germplasm accessions including standard checks, namely PBNS-12, PBNS-86, PBNS-154, and A-1 were evaluated for 15 quantitative traits, and their correlation coefficients were analyzed. The results revealed that seed yield per plant had a significant and positive association with several traits at the genotypic level, including days to first flowering, days to 50% flowering, days to maturity, number of primary and secondary branches per plant, plant height, number of capitula per plant, seeds per capitulum, test weight, volume weight, hull content, biomass, and harvest index. In contrast, oil content showed a significant negative correlation with seed yield. However, at the phenotypic level, traits such as days to first flowering, days to 50% flowering, and days to maturity exhibited a negative but non-significant correlation with seed yield per plant.
