Role of the Ultrasound in Primary Ovarian Insufficiency: Scientific Evaluation Overview
Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) is a condition characterized by impaired ovarian function in women under the age of 40 years.Clinically, it is often identified by the presence of amenorrhea lasting for 4-6 months, reduced serum estradiol levels, and elevated follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH >25 mIU/L) concentrations.Beyond its impact on reproductive health, POI significantly affects mental health, cardiovascular function, and bone density. This article provides a comprehensive scientific evaluation of POI, encompassing its clinical assessment, diagnostic criteria, ultrasound role in diagnosis, therapeutic approaches, and long-term management strategies.
