Hilbert-Huang Transform for CCSN multi-messenger studies
Core-Collapse Supernovae rank among the most energetic astrophysical events in the Universe. During core collapse, they are expected to emit gravitational waves due to asymmetric mass motions within the collapsing core, and simultaneously release neutrinos as a result of interactions in the dense environment. These messengers offer a unique window into the inner workings of the explosion mechanism. Among the various observable features, one particularly important signature is the Standing Accretion Shock Instability (SASI), which connects gravitational wave emission to the emerging neutrino flux. In this work, Hilbert-Huang transform has been applied to a selected sample of 3D numerical simulations, with the aim of identifying SASI contribution and extract its instantaneous frequency. The performance of the method has been evaluated in the context of Einstein Telescope.
