Analysis on the Effect of Slots & DGS on Micro Strip Rectangular Patch Antenna

This paper presents a compact antenna design optimized for operation around 11.75 GHz, targeting applications in advanced military communication and radar systems within the X-band frequency range. The design incorporates multiple rectangular slots on the left, right, and top of the patch elements, which are strategically implemented to enhance bandwidth & gain. The final optimized antenna has a compact size of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$6.26 \times 5.23 \times 1.6 \text{mm}^{3}$</tex>, making it suitable for integration into spaceconstrained applications. The antenna achieves a bandwidth of 2 GHz, which is suitable for high-data-rate communication and radar applications. The design delivers a gain of 4.48 dBi, ensuring efficient signal transmission and reception.
