Advanced Data Management in Remote Oil and Gas Environments Using Edge Computing
The management of massive real-time data volumes produced at remote drilling sites is one of the major issues facing the upstream segment of the oil and gas industry, as discussed in this paper. Conventional approaches have trouble processing this data efficiently, which leads to more downtime, inefficient operations, and higher maintenance expenses. Furthermore, these problems are made worse by poor internet connectivity in isolated and resource-constrained settings, which makes it more difficult to acquire data and make timely decisions. Our solution uses state-of-the-art technology, mainly AWS IoT, Greengrass, Lambda, and digital twin capabilities, to address these challenges. Even in settings with poor internet connectivity, this creative method enables more efficient data management, real-time analysis, predictive maintenance, and improved accessibility.
