Design and Optimization of Innovative FSS Absorber for Enhanced EM Wave Mitigation

This paper describes the design and optimization of a novel dual-frequency band Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) absorber intended to enhance electromagnetic (EM) wave mitigation. A resistive layer with a circular ring shape is combined with low-frequency resonators to increase the absorption range towards lower frequencies. Following that, this resistive layer is integrated with the dual-bandpass FSS, which has transmission bands within the absorption spectrum. The circular ring of the resistive layer also contains a swastik resonator, which allows for the construction of a dual transmission pole that corresponds to the dual operating frequencies of the bandpass FSS. Both the <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$3.7-10.6 \text{GHz}$</tex> (95.8 percent) and the <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$12.6-14.7 \text{GHz}$</tex> (14.90 percent) broad absorption ranges are satisfied by the final structure.
