Wearable Jeans Substrate Integrated Antenna Design for 5G Mm Wave Connectivity

This paper describes a wearable antenna loaded linearly Polarized SISO antenna with single port. The antenna is etched using a Jeans substrate and takes up a volume of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$6 \times 12.5 \times 0.8 ~\text{mm}^{3}$</tex>. The proposed design operates in the wide frequency band of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$31.5 \text{GHz}-38.5 \text{GHz}$</tex>. The peak gain reaches approximately 8.8 dBi around 34 GHz in the simulated curve. The measured gain closely matches the simulated gain. The suggested design is modelled using HFSS and confirmed using the fabricated module. The proposed antenna is highly suitable for <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$28-44 \text{GHz} 5 \mathrm{G} / 6 \mathrm{G}$</tex> applications. Finally, bending analysis validates the antenna's flexibility.

Abstract

This paper describes a wearable antenna loaded linearly Polarized SISO antenna with single port. The antenna is etched using a Jeans substrate and takes up a volume of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$6 \times 12.5 \times 0.8 ~\text{mm}^{3}$</tex>. The proposed design operates in the wide frequency band of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$31.5 \text{GHz}-38.5 \text{GHz}$</tex>. The peak gain reaches approximately 8.8 dBi around 34 GHz in the simulated curve. The measured gain closely matches the simulated gain. The suggested design is modelled using HFSS and confirmed using the fabricated module. The proposed antenna is highly suitable for <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$28-44 \text{GHz} 5 \mathrm{G} / 6 \mathrm{G}$</tex> applications. Finally, bending analysis validates the antenna's flexibility.
