A Wearable MIMO Antenna for WBAN Applications

This study delineates an exhaustive analysis of a wearable MIMO antenna with four ports operating at 5.2 GHz. The proposed antenna exhibits a gain of 4.8 dB with isolation higher than 30 dB between the ports. Each antenna element comprises a circular copper patch printed on Jeans substrate. The Envelope Correlation Coefficient (ECC) is <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{0. 0 0 0 0 8}$</tex> and the Diversity Gain (DG) is <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{1 0 ~ d B}$</tex> at the resonance frequency of each antenna element. Abstract

The Mean Effective Gain (MEG) of each of the ports is observed to be <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{- 3. 3 0 4 1 5} \mathbf{~ d B}$</tex> at port <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{1, ~} \mathbf{- 3. 8 8 1 3 6} \mathbf{~ d B}$</tex> at port <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$2,-3.15292 ~\text{dB}$</tex> at port 3 and -3.50693 dB at port 4 respectively. A prototype has been fabricated and tested. Jeans material has been used to fabricate the MIMO antenna. Measured results match closely with simulated results.
