Compact Multiband Filtered Antenna for UWB Applications

This paper focuses on designing and implementing an Ultra-Wideband (UWB) antenna with multiband notching capabilities. The proposed UWB is developed to operate within the specified band from <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$3.1-10.6 \text{GHz}$</tex> which is allocated by FCC with an aim to get high-speed, short-range communication while requiring low energy levels. UWB technology supports wide bandwidths, making it ideal for achieving high data transmission rates. The integration of slots at precise locations acts as a filter to avoid interference from existing bands namely WiMAX, WiFi, and X-band satellite uplink and down link frequencies. This feature enables the antenna to mitigate interference from coexisting communication systems, ensuring clear and reliable communication even in crowded frequency environments. The design process includes simulating the antenna using CST software, where critical parameters such as S11 vs frequency, gain (<tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$G$</tex>) and antenna radiation patterns are analyzed to optimize the performance. The comprehensive process of simulation ensures the development of a robust and effective UWB antenna with dimensions <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$35 ~\text{mm} * 49 ~\text{mm}^{2}$</tex>. The proposed antenna supports high data rate transmission for short distance communication. This paper aims to design a UWB antenna with slots which provides an innovative solution to address interference challenges in modern communication systems.
