Performance Evaluation of OTFS for 5G Applications: Comparative Analysis
Wireless communication plays a vital role in connecting people, devices, and systems globally. It provides a crucial advantage in mobility of network. Wireless communication's flexibility is beneficial in situations where wired communication is impossible. The paper involves an over view of wireless communication technologies from 1 G to the upcoming 7 G. Next, it describes about Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) modulation is a technique that involves splitting a fast data stream into several slower substreams and sending them concurrently. It allows multiple carriers that are orthogonal to each other to avoid the interference. Further, Orthogonal Time Frequency Space (OTFS) modulation overcomes various issues associated with traditional modulation methods such as OFDM, making it a cornerstone technology in the domain of digital communication. It translates Delay-Doppler domain data into a robust format, ideal for dynamic situations. Comparative MATLAB simulations of OTFS with OFDM demonstrate the possible advantages of OTFS in terms of parameters such as Bit Error Rate (BER), Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR), Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR), Power Spectral Density (PSD) and Spectral Efficiency.
