A Graphene-Based Tunable Polarization-Insensitive Metasurface Absorber for Thz Applications
This paper presents a polarizationindependent, tunable, absorptive type metasurface structure in terahertz region. The unit cell of the metasurface structure comprises the slotted split ring geometry in graphene film deposited on gold-backed silicon dioxide to exhibit the dual-band operation. The structure offers near unity absorption in the bands <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{5. 1 8}$</tex> THz to 7.58 THz and 9.8 THz to 10.39 THz having peak absorption frequencies at 6.89 THz and 10.15 THz respectively. The structure offers miniaturized geometry with a periodicity of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\sim \lambda / 10$</tex> and thickness of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\sim \lambda / 8$</tex> finding potential applications towards sensing, 6 G communication, and spectroscopy.
