Improve User Experience through Business Intelligence and Natural Language Processing using SAP Analytics Cloud

User Experience (UX) has become an integral part of Information Systems and even more so on Business Intelligence (BI) platforms. Throughout this paper, we talk about UX's relevance in Business Intelligence, focusing its key drivers, which include intuitive user interface (UI), user assistance and documentation, insights, personalization, support for mobile devices, support for collaboration, time response, proactivity, and reactivity. BI features, along with Natural Language Processing (NLP), have come a long way in terms of recent few years, and have strongly influenced these UX drivers. Overall, in this paper, our intention is to outline key BI features and NLP uses in BI, and their interaction with integrated UX key drivers. In an attempt to outline our observations, we execute a use case using BI software SAP Analytics Cloud. In our real-life use case, we see how recent BI solutions can respond appealingly to UX problems, delivering intuitive, reactive, and customizable user experiences. Results reiterate the predominant role of UX in enhancing reward potential created by BI platforms and in turn achieving better decision-support and organizational success. This paper is aimed at information systems managers and consultants, specially focused on Business Intelligence (BI) solutions and User Experience (UX).
