Leveraging AI-Driven Feedback Tools to Enhance Teacher Performance in EMI Classrooms A Case Study in Sino-Foreign Universities
English Medium Instruction (EMI) is increasingly adopted in Sino-foreign universities to facilitate internationalized higher education. However, EMI instructors face challenges related to linguistic barriers, cultural nuances, and student engagement. AI-driven feedback tools, such as Grammarly, iFlytek Smart Education, and ChatGPT, have been introduced as potential solutions to enhance instructional effectiveness. This study examines the current use and perceptions of AI-driven feedback tools in EMI classrooms through surveys, classroom observations, and instructor interviews. Data was collected from 20 EMI instructors across various disciplines to identify trends, benefits, and challenges associated with AI integration. Findings indicate that while AI tools improved language accuracy and classroom engagement, instructors also reported concerns related to technical usability and data privacy. The study highlights the need for targeted AI training, policy development, and further refinement in AI integration to optimize its effectiveness in EMI contexts.
