Empowering Knowledge Building Teachers' Lesson Planning by Agents
This study explores the integration of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) agents to empower Knowledge Building (KB) educators in lesson planning. It examines the challenges teachers face in adopting KB principles and the potential of GAI to enhance instructional design. A multi-agent system (MAS) tailored to KB was introduced, focusing on the development of a specialized knowledge base and prompt engineering to align with the “12 Principles.” An empirical study conducted in a Chinese elementary school highlighted the MAS's effectiveness in improving lesson planning efficiency and its alignment with KB pedagogy, while also identifying areas for further refinement. The findings suggest significant potential for GAI-supported lesson planning agents to enhance KB teaching practices.
