Metamaterial Split Ring Resonator-Based Sensor for the Measurement of Dielectric Constant of Low-Loss Liquids
Dielectric measurement of organic solvents is important in both scientific research and industrial applications. This study presents a novel approach for determining the dielectric constant of organic solvents using a microwave-based Metamaterial Split Ring Resonator (SRR) sensor. The resonance frequency shift of an SRR, which is induced by the variations in the liquid's dielectric properties in the presence of an electromagnetic field, is utilized in developing the efficient and accurate SRR-based sensor. The determination of dielectric constants for unknown liquids is presented by establishing a well-defined reference calibration method using liquids with known dielectric constants. The proposed method is a reliable, robust, and fast approach for determining the dielectric constant of low-loss liquids, with universal applicability across different research and industrial settings.
