A Compact and High-Performance Square Slotted Patch Antenna for 5G Wireless Communication

This paper introduces a compact and highperformance square slotted patch antenna specifically designed for multiband wireless applications, with a focus on 5G communication systems. The antenna operates at four distinct resonant frequencies: <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$12.08 \text{GHz}, 15.21 \text{GHz}$</tex>, 16.82 GHz, and 18.43 GHz, covering a broad range of 5G applications, including high-capacity microwave links, IoT systems, and advanced communication networks. The square-slotted design enhances bandwidth and improves impedance matching, distinguishing it from conventional patch antennas. The antenna demonstrates excellent reflection loss values of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$-27.61 ~\text{dB},-21.91 ~\text{dB}$</tex>, 30.01 dB, and -34.04 dB at the respective operating frequencies, ensuring optimal performance. The compact design, multiband capability, and excellent performance metrics make this antenna a promising candidate for 5 G communication networks, offering the necessary features for high-speed, reliable, and low-latency connections. This study contributes to the development of small, efficient antennas crucial for the next generation of wireless communication systems, particularly for 5G and beyond.

Abstract

This paper introduces a compact and highperformance square slotted patch antenna specifically designed for multiband wireless applications, with a focus on 5G communication systems. The antenna operates at four distinct resonant frequencies: <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$12.08 \text{GHz}, 15.21 \text{GHz}$</tex>, 16.82 GHz, and 18.43 GHz, covering a broad range of 5G applications, including high-capacity microwave links, IoT systems, and advanced communication networks. The square-slotted design enhances bandwidth and improves impedance matching, distinguishing it from conventional patch antennas. The antenna demonstrates excellent reflection loss values of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$-27.61 ~\text{dB},-21.91 ~\text{dB}$</tex>, 30.01 dB, and -34.04 dB at the respective operating frequencies, ensuring optimal performance. Additionally, the voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) measurements of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$1.08,1.17,1.06$</tex>, and 1.04 are well below the threshold value of 2, indicating efficient energy transfer. With gain values of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$3.53 ~\text{dB}, 4.03 ~\text{dB}, 2.51 ~\text{dB}$</tex>, and 3.77 dB at the corresponding frequencies, the antenna demonstrates consistent performance across all bands.
