Investigating the Effects of a Psi-Shaped Slot on a Microstrip Patch Antenna
This study introduces a compact, multi-band, linearly polarized square microstrip patch antenna with inset feeding, featuring a psi-shaped slot inspired by the Greek letter, positioned at its center. It exhibits a primary resonance at 2.314GHz followed by resonances at 3.9606GHz, 4.59GHz, 5.045GHz and 6.79GHz respectively. The incorporation of the psi-shaped slot contributes to lower return loss, miniaturization, and increased number of frequency bands compared to normal square patch leading to enhancement of antenna performance. The slotted antenna can be utilized for WLAN, 5G and 6G applications.
