Circularly Polarized Microstrip Patch Antenna Design for WLAN Frequency Band
In the presented research work, circularly polarized microstrip patch antenna (CPMPA) has been designed, developed and experimentally measured in house. Various performance parameters like reflection coefficient, smith impedance plot, <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$E$</tex> and <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$H$</tex> plane radiation pattern, gain and directivity, axial ratio, main lobe direction (MLD), half power bean width (HPBW), side lobe level (SLL), efficiency etc., has been explored. Antenna has been tested using vector network analyzer (VNA) and anechoic chamber for various parameters. For fabrication, FR4 (Epoxy glass) has been chosen as a substrate. Unique way of circular polarization has been applied using corner feed operation. CST simulator results as well as experimentally measured are compared to validate. Close resemblance between both validates the methodology.
