Design of A Koch Snowflake Fractal for S-Band and C-Band Applications
This paper proposes a Koch Snowflake fractal for a dual-band application. A Koch Snowflake fractal is a selfrepetitive equilateral triangle which can provide an operation at more than one frequency. In the geometry which is designed & shown in this paper, the Koch Snowflake fractal is designed up to its three iterations & has a dual-band operation at S & C bands. In this work, the FR-4 substrate is used as a dielectric material, which has a thickness of 1.5 mm. The designed fractal is analyzed for its return loss, VSWR & surface current distribution. The Koch Snowflake in its Iteration-1 has a singleband operation at 2.59 GHz, in Iteration-2 the operation is at 2.45 GHz & in Iteration-3 it has a dual-band operation at 2.23 GHz, 4.9 GHz & 7.79 GHz. The structure is further analysed for its VSWR & surface current distribution. The proposed Koch snowflake is used in radar, microwave & long-distance telecommunication applications.
